III Forks Offers iPad Wine List; First For Jacksonville Restaurants
III Forks is the first Jacksonville, Fla. restaurant to offer guests an interactive wine list in a custom iPad application, called GrapePad, created by Three Elements Design, out of Austin, Texas.
The iPad certainly makes selecting a bottle of wine more interesting than a paper wine list.
III Forks Jacksonville General Manager and Proprietor Curtis Osmond is unveiling the impressive application. Osmond came to Jacksonville last year after serving as general manager and proprietor at III Forks in Austin.
The upscale Tapestry Park restaurant is likely the first city restaurant to launch custom design iPad wine tablets. The handheld device not only provides customers with detailed information about the major wine regions and varietals, but also automatically updates the wine list as labels sell out.
"It's not only a great experience for our guests, but is a very effective management tool," said Osmond.
The custom app provides information about varietals, growing regions and details on each bottle that assist guests trying to select the perfect wine to pair with their meals. For those who are still interested in seeing a traditional list, III Forks still provides a complete copy of its wine list in a paper format. The list features bottles from all over the world.
The sommelier at III Forks plans to use the iPad to educate patrons on over the 350 bottles available or invite guests to instantly access the information themselves from the iPad's fully customizable GrapePad application with the touch of a finger.
The iPad is sure to become more common, as different businesses come up with creative ways to use the tablet.
III Forks, based in Dallas, is Jacksonville?s newest steakhouse conveniently located in Tapestry Park off Southside Boulevard at JTB. The restaurant boasts a unique, sophisticated club-like ambiance with an elegant bar and lounge.
III Forks has brought a whole new level of dining in North Florida, from spectacular interiors with fire-infused walls, to an outdoor patio area with sparkling fountains, plasma TVs, and huge concrete fire table, to the glass enclosed wine room housing hundreds of hand-picked wines. The lush décor of III Forks is complemented by impeccable service and a menu, which features only USDA Prime Grade Beef, a distinction held by only a handful of steakhouses in the country.
III Forks Steakhouse is located at 9822 Tapestry Park Circle, off Southside Boulevard, just north of J. Turner Butler Boulevard. Dinner is served Monday through Thursday: 5 - 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday: 5 pm - 11 p.m.
